Counselors Admitted to Non-licensure Educational Specialist Degree Program

Candidates holding a Masters in school counseling can be admitted to the Educational Specialist Non-Licensure degree program.  This pathway does NOT lead to an administrative degree at the Ed.S. or Ed.D. level.  It DOES lead to a specialist degree in education that can be utilized for a pay increase.

The courses taken in the Ed.S. Non-licensure degree program (33 hours) CAN be used when qualifying to enter the doctoral program (Ed.D), though the candidate earning the Ed.D. will not be able to gain licensure in school administration via this path. To obtain a degree that leads to licensure in school administration/leadership, the candidate must take the School Administration coursework at the Masters or Specialist level.
