Introduction to the musical grammar and principles of common-practice tonality as a basis for understanding a variety of musical languages and dialects. Includes rhythm, meter, melody, species counterpoint, major/minor keys, diatonic harmony, voice-leading, tonicization and modulation. Placement exam required before enrolling.  Designed to be taken concurrently with Musicianship I. Audits Not Allowed
