LDS 396 - Leadership & Management Communication (3)

UG

This is the second of three leadership courses that prepare students for culture-changing leadership. Leadership and Management Communications seeks to (1) sensitize students to the importance of effective communication in leadership, (2) equip students with organizationally useful communication skills, and (3) acquaint students with the best practices in communicating effectively in leadership situations. The theme of “servanthood” runs throughout the entire second course. Servant leadership has long been acknowledged as the most noble leadership posture. But what is servant leadership, really? Are we to be leaders who serve, or servants who lead? This course proceeds from the assumption that we are to be servants who lead: serving one (God) by leading others. This perspective enables leaders to focus on what is best for themselves, their followers, and their organizations as they work to reduce uncertainty and increase ownership of the organization’s mission and goals.
