A study of the history of England and the British empire in the 18th century, with an emphasis on the American colonies and the American Revolution. Includes the study of the intellectual, political, social, and economic features that bound the British empire together, and the causes of the British Imperial Crisis that resulted in the American Revolution. It begins with England’s Glorious Revolution and the thought of John Locke and concludes with an historical exploration of the U.S. Constitution, the enduring challenges of the American Revolution in the United States, and the Anglo-American context for the French Revolution.
