Foundational skills in perceiving, understanding, and expressing music. Emphasis on effective, creative daily practice. Includes rhythm, basic conducting patterns, sight-singing and prepared singing with solfege, intervals, rhythmic and melodic dictation, and elements of interpretation and expression. Coursework involves daily practice and use of ear-training software. Placement exam required before enrolling. C or better required for advancement to Musicianship II. Designed to be taken concurrently with MUS-121.
