This course is designed for students of all majors to introduce the world of the physical sciences in a broad cultural, social, and economic context. The course provides examples of past and current events that impact students’ lives and presents them in a scientific, problem-based approach. Topics of interest will include energy, environmental quality, pharmaceuticals, consumer products, natural disasters, and scientific discovery. There is a focus on the practical application of this knowledge to our lives and a sustainable society.
